What Getting Started Looks Like
Getting started in therapy can often feel like a daunting, and intimidating process. Take a look below for a step-by-step guide on what that looks like.

1. Intake
Getting Established
The first step to starting treatment is to reach out! Once you email me at jj@wellmindssj.com, I will respond within 24 hours on business days (M-F). We'll book a free 30-minute consultation call first where I'll review informed consent with you. If we're a good fit, I'll send over a small packet of intake paperwork that takes most no longer than 30 minutes.
2. Assessment/Treatment Planning
Goal Setting
In our first session, we'll begin by gathering background information, and establishing what you'd like to accomplish in therapy. This process generally takes 45-60 minutes, and will be our first foray into treatment.

3. The Assessment
Diving Deep
Once goals are established, we'll start our inquiry through three facets of life: formative years, peer relationships, and environmental influences. This inquiry typically takes 3-5 sessions, and is followed by a singular session of emotion focused therapy to highlight our process of managing challenging life situations.
The Feedback Session
Taking Stock, and Next Steps
To round out our time together is the feedback session. In this session, we'll review subconscious motivations that drive decision-making, and what we can do to drive change within our own lives to becoming the person we want to be. Regardless if you desire these changes to happen within the frame of therapy, or outside of it, you'll receive a document detailing our work together thus far. This document can be used to support therapy in an ongoing manner with myself, another provider, or in tandem with couples counseling to enhance emotional attunement.
